PSG owner buys 21% stake in Sporting Braga
Al-Khelaifi justifies investment in an "exemplary Portuguese institution with a reputation for excellence". António Salvador rejoices in QSI's "global experience and boldness".
The Qatar Sports Investments group, which owns Paris Saint-Germain, has signed a share purchase agreement with Olivesports to acquire 21.67% of sporting club's capital.
In a joint statement, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), a group with investments in several world-leading sports brands and businesses, and Sp. Braga explain that the conclusion of the contract for the purchase and sale of shares has already been disclosed to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM). The completion of the purchase of the shares of Sp. Braga by QSI "will take place in the coming months, subject to certain conditions," the note adds.
Qatar Sports Investments is one of the leading groups in world sport. In addition to being the owner of Paris Saint-Germain, he is also known for the creation of the Premier Padel, the world's leading professional paddle circuit, and for his investments in other sporting assets.
During QSI's ownership of Paris Saint-Germain, the Parisian club evolved from a local French football club, valued at 70 million euros, to a multibillion-dollar global multi-sports club, "featuring the best professional teams in the men's, women's and youth categories of football, handball, judo and e-sports," the statement said.

Also quoted in the statement, António Salvador, president of Sp. Braga — Futebol, SAD, says that "it is with great satisfaction that Sp. Braga welcomes Qatar Sports Investments as an investor", considering that it is the right partner for the club to accelerate its growth and expansion and to help realize the potential of the minhoto emblem.
"Qatar Sports Investments' extraordinary ability – with its global experience, boldness and a track record of amazing results in various sports and business – brings enormous value and will contribute to achieving our ambitious plans," he adds.
